Sample Paper King Claudius Gap Monologue
Sample Paper King Claudius Gap â" Monologue Sample Paper: King Claudius Gap â" Monologue King Claudius, âlately something is amiss; I am frequently fearful and apprehensive of my nephewâs madness. The young man is getting into my nerves. How dare he accuse me of murder before my subjects? All I ever did was for the sake of my people. I cannot kill unless it is necessary to allow my people prosper. I should punish him severely without people knowing. I think I should even get rid of him for good. This way I would have no competition to my empire and people would remain peaceful.â the king laughs by himself and thinks loudly, âThe boy thinks he can kill me, but he is unaware who Claudius is, I am going to send him to his father and eliminate him completely.â King Claudius is sitting in his throne deep in thought. He has just received news that after sending Hamlet to England, he has been brought back by pirates, which wants a ransom for his release. He thinks to himself, âMaybe I should delay in paying the ransom so that the pirates could kill him for me. However, this could ruin my reputation among my subjects. People would believe that I let him die, and they would believe that I murdered my brother. However, I must get rid of him before he further causes havoc in my kingdom and kills me.â Claudius says, âI have a plan; I have two young men that are in dire need of revenge. I think I should play with their emotions and let them kill each other. This way I would be free of any blame and wrongdoing. Laertes is burning with anger wanting to revenge the death of Polonius his father and his sister Ophelia. I have already told him that Hamlet is responsible for their deaths. I have to use this to my advantage. I can arrange an innocen t fencing match for the two and poison Laertes sword, in order to make certain that he kills Hamlet.â King Claudius smiles and thinks, âThis is a remarkable idea to get rid of Hamlet forever. He makes me spend sleepless nights while I should be concerned with the affairs of my kingdom.â King Claudius âQueen Gertrude also deserves to die for her contribution to the note sent to Hamlet on his way to England. My queen has a misplaced loyalty. She is challenging my power, and wants to get rid of me. That is why she sent the note warning Hamlet of my plan to kill him. I will teach her a lesson, as well. She has to be punished. I would make her drink from the goblet when Laertes kills her dear son. I need to do everything I could to keep my power.â Speaking to himself Claudius says, âToday would be the day I eliminate all threats to my throne and I would rule until my old age. Keeping power is not an easy task; a powerful and creative king has to use all means possible to keep his power. I do not regret killing to maintain my kingdom. I would manipulate, and scheme to live my dream as the king of this country. I am going to use poison to eliminate the greatest threat to my throne in this contest.â The king laughs loudly and goes to watch the contest. The king say s, âI am content that in the end, the enemy to his throne is going to die.â As he seats to watch the match, Claudius prays to God, âI am sorry that it has to come to this. I regret my actions, but I believe they are necessary to maintain peace and order in this great nation. I pray that the almighty god forgives me for my actions, for all I did was for the interest of the kingdom of Denmark.â

Should Abortion Be Legal - 1585 Words
The battle over whether to legalize or ban abortion in the United States has greatly increased in recent years; the moral, ethical and legal has been a continuous fight in our society. The abortion issue is also the most passionate and debatable in the United States to whether allow one to have free will over their body or have the government make that decision. Furthermore, it is one of the leading debate in political races. In this society everyone has a choice and they all have consequences. The choice for a woman to choose to have an abortion is solely her fundamental right. Contrary to pro-choice supporters, pro-life supporters argues that the fetus has more right to life than a womanââ¬â¢s privacy right (Head, 2015). I believe that ifâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦The practice of abortion has been practiced for a lot of different reasons such as health risks of the mother or the fetus, or is one ready for motherhood, just to list a few. Prior to the famous court case Wade v . Roe, abortions where punishable under common law. After these proceedings, the court ruled abortions during the first trimester, the decision is to the judgment of the motherââ¬â¢s doctor. In regard to second trimester, the states may support their interests in the motherââ¬â¢s health by regulating abortion procedures associated to the health of the mother. In regard to the third trimester, the states may support their interests in the potentiality of oneââ¬â¢s life by regulating or prohibiting abortion, except when it is necessary to protect the life or health of the mother. With all the respect to the Supreme Courtââ¬â¢s ruling in Roe v Wade, a womanââ¬â¢s right to have an abortion is derivative from her right to privacy (Cole, 1992). Another argument both groups hinge on different norms regarding whether or not a fetus has a right to life, or is it a human being? A lot of different moral and religious views over that question. We leave in a country which embraces a variety of religions, it is imperative to avoid accepting one view over another. I truly believe a woman has the right to examine her spiritual, ethical and religious beliefs when making this decision and do what is in her best interest and her family. Until

The Maudsley Violence Questionnaire (MVQ) Free Essay Example, 1000 words
The Maudsley Violence Questionnaire (MVQ) Number Maudsley Violence Questionnaire The Maudsley Violence Questionnaire measures cognitions relating to violent Behavior. The MVQ is a 54-item questionnaire covering a range of cognitions (beliefs, rules, distortions and attributions) that may provide justifications, support, or injunctions to violence. Each item is rated true/false. The MVQ comprises two factors: Machismo, which relates to embarrassment over backing down, violence as an aspect of being male, justification of violence as a way of responding to a threat and/or an attack, and the strength and weakness associated with non-violence and fear; Acceptance of violence including overt acceptance and enjoyment of violence, in sport and in the media as well injunctions against violence as a behavior that is acceptable (Walker, 2005; Gilligan, 1996). The idea behind the development of the MVQ was to produce a measure that assessed dysfunctional assumptions and the self-related core b eliefs (schemas), which were influential in violent and aggressive behaviors. The MVQ was designed from a cognitive behavioral perspective, suggesting that violence is a macho response to threatened self-esteem. It is proposed that violence is a legitimized strategy to cover low self esteem, which has been further threatened in a social interaction. Given that the MVQ was specifically conceived to relate to violence, it would be expected that the MVQ factors would be better predictors of violence than personality factors, but that in keeping with previous studies, psychoticism would be a better predictor of overall offending. Machismo is a cognitive style rather than a personality factor and the specific nature of machismo makes it more relevant for violent offending, but less perhaps relevant for other types of offending. The exploration of the relationship of the MVQ factors to personality and self-esteem will help to demonstrate whether the MVQ factors are related to or independent of personality factors and whether there is a relationship between self-esteem, violent cognitions and self-reported violent behavior. The major theme in the devel opment of the questionnaire was using violence to protect self esteem and as a response to embarrassment (Gilligan, 1996). The theme is important in the context of the youths as there is support in literature suggesting that there have been considerations of belief which allow violence and believe in its use to promote self esteem.

I sit here staring into the darkness and think this is as good a time as any to write my story of conflict. The assignment was to tell of a conflict of an interpersonal relationship that has impacted my life. I can only think of one such relationship. I was 14 when I met Anthony. I hated him. I hated his arrogance. I hated the way he walked, the way he talked, the way he thought he was better than all of us. In a short year, however, all the things I hated about him became the things I couldnââ¬â¢t resist. We started dating when I was 15. It was a troubled relationship from the start. Compare and Contrast Banquo Macbeth and Macduff free essay sample
Banquo, and Macduff are all very interesting and crucial to the play, Macbeth. They are also complex in a way. The most complex in my opinion is Macbeth. He is introduced at the the beginning as this one great hero thats just outstanding and wonderful, and everyone is esteeming him. He then sees the witches, that say he will be king of Cawdor. He is suddenly struck with the thought that he would have to kill Duncan for the the throne. This changes him and turns him into someone that he wasnââ¬â¢t, based in his actions. His wife, Lady Macbeth also helped with that. He killed his friend, Banquo, just because he had a threat to him. Banquo was Macbethââ¬â¢s friend and was in the army of Duncan with Macbeth. He is not too much different than Macbeth at the beginning, but later stays the same while Macbeth kinda does his thing. We will write a custom essay sample on Compare and Contrast Banquo Macbeth and Macduff or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page Macduff starts at a different spot and stays there the whole play, away from Banquo and Macbeth. He is very smart, and likes to let his actions speak for his words, he doesnt talk too much. He really mourns the death of the king, which is what led him to be in charge of the crusade that tried to get rid of Macbeth. So the similarities between these characters are that they are all very smart, strong men that do what they believe they should do. They all are determined people. They are different because of what can change them. MAcbeth, fame and the pressures of becoming someone in the future. Macduff, an injustice done to someone you know can bring something out of you that is different. And I think Banquo doesnt get phased too much so he wonââ¬â¢t really change, which makes him different.

The Serpent Iago free essay sample
A paper which explores the role of the serpent, Iago, in Shakespeares tragedy, Othello. The paper shows that the story of the original sin was a vitally important one for Christians throughout history, and in the extensively Christian world for which William Shakespeare wrote, its absolute truth went unquestioned. The paper discusses how in many ways, the play Othello may be seen as a political, emotional, and tragic response to the same questions of knowledge, culpability and death that this creation myth inspires. It shows how the serpent, Iago, convinces the original and ideal man to rebel against god in search of knowledge that he ought not have, and which will only destroy him: Thus Othello falls from strength and purity to weakness, depravity, and death. Act III, Scene III, is by far the most loaded and pivotal scene in the play. It is in this scene that Othello is truly seduced to take the forbidden fruit in his hand and to let that green-eyed monster of jealousy to run loose in his heart.
